Fleets do not shop for ELDs. They shop after something forces them to.
The trigger for telematics is rarely a renewal date. It is a fleet that just grew, an audit that just came due, or a BASIC that just went red. HAULVANE watches the federal record for all three and ranks by what the contract is worth.
What ranks a carrier for eld
These are the weights the scoring engine actually applies to this profile — not a description of them. Every signal is derived from a federal file and carries the date it changed.
| Signal | Weight | Why it means something to you |
|---|---|---|
| FLEET_GROWTH | +100 | Units added since the last census. More trucks, more seats. |
| NEW_AUTH | +92 | New MC number — buying a first system, not replacing one. |
| AUDIT_DUE | +62 | A new-entrant safety audit is due. Hours-of-service records get examined. |
| BASIC_ALERT | +58 | A BASIC percentile crossed its intervention threshold. |
| MILEAGE_HIGH | +34 | High miles per unit — where compliance risk concentrates. |
Fleet shrink scores −20 and dormant −70. A shrinking fleet is cancelling seats, not buying them.
What a row is worth
Contract value at $38 per unit per month over a 34-month average life.
Every row carries this estimate so the queue can be ranked by money rather than by recency. The model is stated openly in the scoring documentation — it is an estimate, and it is shown as one.
Questions
What counts as fleet growth?
A rise in power units between two archived copies of the census. Because both copies are kept, the queue shows the before and the after, not just the current number.
Is the audit window public?
New-entrant status and the audit window come from the federal record. HAULVANE reports what the file says and links the row so you can check it.
